Bevagna, a noble city, is located in the Spoleto valley. In that city there lived a certain hoily woman with an even more holy daughter and a granddaughter very devoted to Christ, who was deprived of the light of her external eyes, though her internal eyes, through which God was seen, were endowed with wonderful sight. Asked once to show mercy to her, St. Francis took into consideration their work; he marked the eyes of the blind girl with his spittle three times in the name of the Trinity and he sight was restored.
