Bishop Sam Jacobs shepherds the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux,Louisiana and previously served as bishop of Alexandria, Louisiana. He was ordained to the priesthood for the diocese of Lafayette in 1964 and served as pastor, chaplain, and associate pastor of several parishes in the diocese of Lafayette and Lake Charles. He also served as the Episcopal advisor to the National Service Committee for Vocations and Seminarians for the diocese of Lakes Charles. In 1996, Franciscan University awarded him the shepherd’s Award in recognition of his faithful service to the Church.
