St. Francis Loved Animals

That meekness which is so necessary, we should learn from St. Francis. For his was an extraordinary meekness, not only toward people, but also toward animals. He called all animals "brother" or "sister" and we read in the story of his life how even wild animals came running to him as their friend and companion.

  1. St. Francis's devotion to animals is one of the first things that made me research into him. I found out that he also refused to eat lamb claiming that if Christ identified Himself with lambs, then we should respect them. I don't eat lamb anymore because of that. I learned all of this from a wonderful book on St. Francis of Assisi that I read. If you would like more information just email me.

    God Bless
