Catholics in Monroe County, Ohio are being asked to collect all their field stones and drop them off at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery on Ozark-Eddy Bridge Road so that we can duplicate this Portiuncula Chapel located at the Franciscan University of Steubenville
Please note : We are begging our Catholic brothers and sisters in Monroe County, Ohio to round up all their field stones and dump them into the woods next to the Immaculate Conception Cemetery on Ozark-Eddy Bridge Road (in the direction of the large white house towards Woodsfield). These stones will be used to erect the Portiuncula Chapel.

Francis set to begging for stones with which to restore the church of San Damiano. He called to the passers-by: "Whoever gives me one stone will have one reward; two stones, two rewards; three stones, a treble reward!"

An unrelated comment, perhaps useful: Are you aware of the Superdonate site? I don't have time to check it out, but if you do have the time and find that it is legitimate, it might be a very helpful and easy way to bring in additional money. Here is the URL: http://www.superdonate.org/.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get all your stones. I think it is a really nifty idea, but I don't live near you.
ReplyDeleteThe announcement is on Modern Mysticism, so I think you know that my Blest Atheist website went down -- has been hijacked by some furniture place -- and I replaced it with 100th Lamb(www.emahlou.blogspot.com): same posts, past and continuing. I just reached your name among the BA followers so figured I would post a quick note anyway.
Have a blessed week!
I am sorry I cannot drop a stone off for you but I think this is a delightful idea and you follow so closely to Francis. Thank you for this post and for sharing your activities. I wish you success with this project.
ReplyDeleteA special thanks to everyone who wishes they could drop off stones but live too far away. Just as important as stones are your prayers for our ministry. Monroe County, Ohio is now at 19.6 unemployment and climbing every day. Only 43% attend church services, although professed Christians make up over 80% of the population. There has never been a more perfect opportunity than right now to take our Lord Jesus Christ out to a suffering and dying world to feed, clothe and love them.
