This is what happens when you shut down Catholic churches that have been around for over 150 years just so more people would attend the Mass in Woodsfield, Ohio. When I was young, the Immaculate Conception Church in Ozark, Ohio and St. Joseph's Church at Burkhart Station, Ohio were standing room only at Mass. They always had to bring out folding chairs and put them down the aisles and in the backs of the churches to accomodate all the Mass attendees. Then they came in on a Saturday night and tore down the Immaculate Conception Church and simply shut the doors of St. Joseph's and sold off the contents that the local parishoners and their Great-Great Ancestors built by their own blood, sweat and tears. Out of disgust, the parishoners simply returned the contempt they felt shown to them by the Diocese of Steubenville by driving across the Ohio River into West Virginia to attend Mass or they no longer attend Mass at all. Period.
Now they want to shut down the Steubenville Diocese and have the Columbus Diocese take them over.
