If You Are Too Busy To Pray, Then You're Too Busy!

We need to be especially alert to the evil subtlety of Satan. His one desire is to keep people from having a mind and heart disposed to their Lord and God.

He circles, lusting to snatch the human heart by ruse of some gain or assistance and to stifle remembrance of the word and precepts of the Lord.

He wants to extinguish the light of the human heart, and so he moves in by means of worldly busyness and worry.

  1. How true! I participate in a "contemplative prayer for busy people" group, organized by a priest from San Jose. It is not what it sounds. It is not about fitting prayer into a business schedule; it is about fitting a busy schedule around a core prayer life. We just had a 4-day contemplative prayer retreat, not easy to do for "busy" people, but it was worth every minute I played hooky. We had a large percentage of our prayer group there, for a total of 60 people. It is not a matter of time; it is a matter of choice.

(Since I have been gone for four days, I am just now catching up on your blog. It's one of the ones I read regularly. All of your recent posts have been a great way to start the day.)

  2. Thank you, dear sister. Your kind words are so encouraging.

This past Saturday I picked up John Michael Talbot's new book "THE WORLD IS MY CLOISTER - Living From the Hermit Within" and I am sure you will find it extremely informative. It's a very condensed version of Ralph Martin's "THE FULFILLMENT OF ALL DESIRE" in that it is more toward encouraging someone to begin Contemplative Prayer. I say that, but it is also helpful for adepts as well.

May God continue to bless you, Elizabeth!
