Preaching Penance and Evangelical Perfection

Francis set his whole heart and mind on how he could best carry out the words of grace that he had heard, and, divinely inspired, he began to speak in public very simply of penance and the life of evangelical perfection. His words were not greeted with ridicule, neither were they spoken in vain; for they possessed the strength of the Holy Spirit and went straight to the hearts of the listeners rousing them to vehement astonishment.
