Photograph of St. Padre Pio's StigmataAlthough Francis tried hard to hide and conceal from the brothers those glorious Stigmata, which had thus been clearly imprinted in the flesh, on the other hand he saw that he could scarcely hide them from his intimate companions. Nevertheless he feared to make public the secrets of God. So he was in an agony of doubt as to whether or not he should reveal the vision of the Seraph and the imprinting of the Stigmata.
