When we think of possessions, we usually have material things in mind, but St. Francis used to remind his brothers that possessions are material and spiritual, anything we appropriate to ourselves. For him it is not possessions that are sinful, but possessiveness, appropriating to ourselves what is not ours.
Admonition 2
I've heard that many convents will designate a Bible or other item to be for the "use of Sister ...." and once she's done with the item, another sister writes underneath "for the use of Sister..."
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to understand not only in our minds, but also our hearts that all we have is a gift from God. Additionally, it is equally difficult to understand in the same manner how each gift is not to be kept by us indefinitely, but used to further the Kingdom.
ReplyDeleteI love the blog that you have. I was wondering if you would link my blog to yours and in return I would do the same for your blog. If you want to, my site name is American Legends and the URL is:
ReplyDeletewww.americanlegends.blogspot.com
If you want to do this just go to my blog and in one of the comments just write your blog name and the URL and I will add it to my site.
Thanks,
David
Thanks for the good reminder from our brother Francis.
