Vision Of The Lord

Immediately after his conversion and before St. Francis had any brothers or companions, he spent time repairing the church of San Damiano. There he received that vision of the Lord, which filled him with heavenly consolation, there he made his final decision to leave the world...

  1. ccheryl, the stones of the church causing you to think of the rosary just really struck me, because this morning on the bus going to work I read this little prayer-poem by Catherine Doherty:

"The murmur of the prayers are to me like stepping stones, the mysteries like wings. All things spoken on the beads are now accomplished and today I walk on their slender, incredible strength."

  2. Thank you ccheryl and gabrielle for you thoughtful insights. They are truly beautiful.

It's interesting in that the Lord recently gave me a vision to build a replica of the original Portiuncula at our Hermitage/Retreat Center, and that we should ask every family living in the area and everyone who comes to visit, to bring a single stone so that together our prayers will all become one.

  3. How many stones (sins) must we carry to the Church (altar) before we too decry that "Enough is enough!" and dive head-long into the waiting arms of our Savior?

  4. That's a wonderful, prophetic idea Brother Lesser.
